Peace of Mind Storage

Here are some tips that can simplify your moving or storing experience.

Always plan plenty of time in advance. Don’t wait till the last minute to reserve a truck or contact a moving contractor. These companies will take your reservation months in advance so book as soon as you can. This will be a huge burden off your back and you can then concentrate without the worry of “how will I move my items” If you plan on storing your goods contact us as soon as possible and we will assist you with your storing needs.

Know what you have to store. Write down everything you think you will need to store. Don’t forget to check all rooms, your garage, basement, shed and back yard, should you have a house. Always include the number of boxes you feel you will need. Remember to pack heavy items in small boxes and big bulky items in larger boxes. Once you have documented your items, visit or call our facility and our staff will guide and assist you in choosing the proper space. Our staff will ask you many questions to ensure everything is done right on the first try. Our aim is to make an uncomfortable event such as moving and/or storing as pleasant as possible for our customers.

Protect your belongings. You spent lots of money purchasing your items and it would not be prudent to store your good if they are not protected. All mattresses, sofas, chairs should be wrapped in specifically designed plastic bags, available at Stor-All. Protect valuable pieces, statures, and fragile belongings. with bubble wrap or foam packaging. Wrap your dishes and glasses with newsprint to prevent breakage and never over pack boxes. Do not use printed newspaper as the ink will smudge your belongings. Store picture frames and mirrors in dedicated mirror boxes and never store them flat but always on end. Store your valuable items in the back of your unit so others cannot see them while you access your storage space. Do not use plastic to cover your items as it retains moisture.

Label your boxes. It is important for you to label each box. This will make it easy for your movers and especially easy for you when accessing your storage space. Make sure all boxes are taped sufficiently. If you know that you will access certain items regularly then keep them in the front of your space.

Appliances. Make sure your appliances are clean prior to storing especially your stove and fridge. The dirty equipment and dried food is unhealthy and can attract unwanted guests. Always leave your appliances slightly ajar to prevent mildew.

What not to store. You should never store food in your space as this can lure “unwanted visitors”. Do not store toxins or flammables such as oils or gasoline. If you are storing any gas operated equipment please make sure all gas is drained from the tanks.

Purchase insurance. It is strongly recommended that you purchase insurance to protect your belongings. Stor-All can offer you a comprehensive insurance with a reputable insurance firm. You can also purchase insurance through your own but make sure your home insurance covers goods stored in a storage facility. Not all companies insure your personal goods if they are in a storage facility.
